AJ's Big Mac Classic

The AJ's Big Mack Classic Fishing Tournament is September 17-19, Destin, Florida. The Swansboro Rotary Club King Mackerel Blue Water Tournament has become one of the club's most important fundraising events. In its early years, the tournament had less than 100 participants and a purse of $10,000. Lee Moore was appointed master of ceremonies and the prize purse surpassed $100,000 by 1988. The tournament attracted more anglers and was the first to be part of the Southern Kingfish Association's circuit.

Windwood Farm Home for Children will benefit the Carolina Kingfish Classic.

Participants can take part in the tournament by launching boats at any port of their choosing and fishing on any of three days. Brien Bethards and the crew chose deep-fishing Friday. They left Charleston Harbor on Friday and arrived at the designated spot on Saturday, where they immediately hooked up with some giant king mackerel. In just under an hour, they landed a couple of fish weighing more than a hundred pounds.

The Fishing For Miracles event started in 1994 and raised more than $1 million for children's charities. Muckenfuss was a businessman and Dennis Lee an offshore fisherman. It attracted 288 boats during its peak year. It has since declined, but in 2018, 118 boat teams participated. Participants can also bring their children and their parents on board.
